Generators, controls and parts ship by UPS, FedEx or USPS with tracking. Steam shower cabins, saunas, cold plunges and hot tubs ship by curbside freight, and the carrier calls you first to book a delivery time.

Product details

Mr. Steam designs and assembles the MS series in Long Island City, New York. The stainless steel generator sits outside the shower, in a closet, vanity cabinet, heated attic or basement, and sends steam to the shower through a steam head. Pick the size that matches your shower, then the steam start option.

To find your room size, multiply length × width × height in feet. Mr. Steam’s ratings assume ceramic or porcelain tile on cement board and an 8 ft ceiling. Mr. Steam’s sizing guide adds 50% to the room volume for natural stone, marble, glass block or concrete, and 15% for each foot of ceiling above 8 ft. For acrylic or fiberglass, choose a smaller size. Standard or Express Steam?

Express Steam adds a low-power heating element and a thermostat that keep the water in the tank warm, so steam starts sooner after you press start. Mr. Steam installs it at the factory, so it cannot be added later. Choose it if you want steam ready quickly. The standard model is the simpler, lower-cost choice.

Installation requirements

  • Power: 240V, single phase, on its own circuit. Use the amps and breaker in the size table; your electrician sizes the wire to local code.
  • Water: a 3/8 in. NPT water supply connection.
  • Steam line: a 3/4 in. NPT steam outlet. Mr. Steam’s sizing allows up to 60 ft of insulated steam pipe to the shower or room.
  • Drain: a 1/2 in. NPT drain connection.
  • Location: as close to the shower as practical, in a dry space you can reach for service, such as a closet, vanity cabinet, heated attic or basement. The control cable is 30 ft long; a 60 ft cable is available.
  • The shower or room: it must hold steam, with a door and walls that seal, and a ceiling sloped so condensation runs off.
  • Who installs it: a licensed electrician for the circuit and a licensed plumber for the water, steam and drain lines.

Mr. Steam gives this residential steam generator a limited lifetime warranty for homes in the US and Canada. If you make a claim in the first two years, Mr. Steam provides in-home warranty service, parts and labor. After two years, parts are covered for the life of the generator. What size steam generator do I need?

Measure your shower and multiply length × width × height in feet, then pick the size in the table that covers it. Go one size up for stone, glass block, concrete or a ceiling over 8 ft.

Can this generator run on 120V?

No. It needs a dedicated 240V, single-phase circuit.

How far can the generator be from the shower?

Mr. Steam’s sizing allows up to 60 ft of insulated steam pipe. Keep it as close as practical, and plan the control cable: 30 ft is standard, 60 ft is available.

Can I add Express Steam later?

No. Express Steam is installed at the factory, so choose it when you order.

Do I need AutoFlush?

It is optional. AutoFlush drains and rinses the generator after each use, which keeps mineral buildup down, especially with hard water.
